County Covered 24 Hours By Sheriff’s Office

Throughout the 2016 campaign for sheriff Russ VanRenterghem touted his desire to have 24-hour coverage by the office. Another was to add another deputy to make the job easier. Both of those have come to fruition or will soon.

For the past several years the hours from 4 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. had no officers on the road patrolling. If any incident would occur between those hours a call would have to be made to an on-call officer and then the officer would respond. Sometimes that could take several minutes depending where the call took the officer the response time might be longer.
