Eddyville Council, Little League Meet

One of the fields at Frog Pond Park in Eddyville where weeds are growing up through the gravel walkways, bits of trash strewn about, and a left field fence is damage. Eddyville City Council and Little League representatives are meeting correct the deficiencies.

A week ago members of the Little League program attended the city council meeting of Eddyville to ask what parts of the Frog Pond Park where to fields are, they are responsible for and determine who owns what. That meeting brought about issues of liability and questions of responsibility.

On March 14 both came back together to discuss the issue further. Practices are about to begin and the fields need attention as well as the facility in general.

The Little League committee has tried to maintain the fields and the facilities they have purchased or built. Also on the grounds are basketball courts and playground equipment.

At the March 5 meeting, questions of city liability were raised. The committee asked how its liability would be affected if someone not connected with Little League were injured. City attorney Heather Simplot recommended a lease agreement.
