German Comes Home to Help Patients

Dr. Kelly German

Relationships mean a lot to Dr. Kelly German. So much so she gave up a career in Boulder, Colo., and moved back to Iowa. She is excited to be home and helping patients with their eye health at Jensen Optometrists in Grinnell.

Dr. Kelly (Freeborn) German is a native of Lynnville and her husband Dustin is a graduate of North Mahaska. German’s desire to help people began at an early age. Her desire has not changed.

“I remember as a kid I was a patient of Clark (Dr. Clark Jensen),” said German. “I told him I wanted to be an optometrist. I saw my mom’s struggle with her eyes and I wanted to help people. I knew I wanted to do something medically.”

Jensen has been her mentor throughout her venture to be an optometrist. Following her graduation from the University of Iowa, she went on to complete her Doctor of Optometry at the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 2016. She worked for a time as a technician with Jensen before going to Colorado.
