Griffin Takes Warhawk Helm

Phil Griffin, right, shown here from a 2017 file photo, has been named the new head football coach at North Mahaska.

There will be a familiar face on the sideline when North Mahaska takes to the field on Aug. 30 to face North Tama as the football season begins. Phil Griffin will lead the Warhawks as the new head football coach.

Griffin is the third head coach to lead the program in three years, but has worked as a junior high coach and his familiarity with most of the players should be an asset according to Griffin. Griffin’s hiring came after a five-month search.

“I know almost every kid who has played football in the past,” said Griffin. “I am excited about this.”

North Mahaska is coming off a 1-8 season in which they averaged 10 points per game while yielding 48 points per game.
