Hite Cites Experience in Run for State Office

Dustin Hite

New Sharon attorney Dustin Hite likes a challenge and enjoys government. It is that combination that brought home the decision to run for Iowa State Representative for District 79. The seat will be vacated by Guy Vander Linden of Oskaloosa at the end of the year.

“I have been mayor of the City of New Sharon for six years,” said Hite. “I have really enjoyed my time there and I love doing public service. I like being in government and this just seemed to be the next logical step.”

Hite, who works as an attorney in Oskaloosa, if elected, will serve western Mahaska County, all of Oskaloosa, all of University Park, the city of Pella and the area round Pella. He is challenged by Democratic candidate Samantha Keith of University Park and Libertarian Nicholas Ryan of Oskaloosa.

“I think I can take the talents I have and do for the state of Iowa and rural Iowa what we have done for New Sharon,” said Hite. “Continued growth, making it a business friendly environment, working to make taxes competitive throughout the nation are important. Those are the things I have been trying to do in New Sharon and I would like to try to take those to the next level.”
