Mahaska County Saw Growth in 2017

Mahaska Conservation Board break ground for the new environmental learning center.

The final six months of 2017 saw growth in parks, breaking ground for the environmental learning center, and several new faces joining city councils in Mahaska County. Fremont and Barnes City saw the fruits of their labors come forth with the installation of new playground equipment.

New Sharon voters approved moving the water system ownership and control to Mahaska Rural Water. On the sports scene Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont reached the state finals of the state softball tournament while Cheyenne Shaw of North Mahaska made the field in the state cross country meet.
