NM Board Hears Project Updates

Project updates were on a busy agenda for North Mahaska School Board members Monday. They heard updates on a walk through of the renovations with Dale Linneman of Estes Construction, and heard from superintendent Angela Livezey on stage and auditorium lighting updates.

Livezey said there are some areas that contractors will return during Christmas break to correct, replace or install. She said the final warranty walk through would be conducted in June. Due to some settling there are areas where covering materials or doors need some attention. She cited work on the plywood panels in the entryway, a cupboard in the consumer science room and lack of heat in the instructional coaches room. Livezey said none of the items were a hazard to students or staff, but did need to be corrected.

Later in the meeting the board was informed about he progress in lighting in the auditorium. The stage area has had dark spots for many years. The lights were part of the original install. Board members had approved the purchase of lighting from CNJ Lighting at a cost of $4,776. The stage lights and the six par can lights in front of the stage were replaced in the project.
