NM seeks to ring the bell in season finale

NEW SHARON – The North Mahaska victory bell that recently returned to the south end of the Warhawk’s football field is itching to get rung. 

Following a turbulent 2018 season – one where the Warhawks won just one game and the fan base was divided between staying in 11-man or dropping down to 8-man football (even though due to enrollment size wasn’t an option) – new head coach Phil Griffin knew that the 2019 season wouldn’t be about wins and losses. Rather, it would be about establishing something from which the program could build. 

The first step in building a program from scratch was bringing in a coaching staff committed to moving forward. So Coach Griffin assembled a staff that has past ties to the community and program (Brad Steel, Shawn DeJong, Clay Grandia, Mark Harmon) along with some new blood in former William Penn football player and recent graduate, Trey Bennett.
