No. 4 Warhawks Demonize Albia

North Mahaska’s Kassidi Steel puts in two of her 28 points in a 67-44 rout of Albia Tuesday.

It may be too early in the season to call the North Mahaska girl’s basketball team a juggernaut, but The No. 4 ranked Warhawks are off to a flying start. They hosted the Lady Dees of Albia Tuesday and posted a 67-44 victory over the Class 3A Demons.

North Mahaska hit four 3-point shots in the first two and half minutes to lead 14-0 and took a 26-7 advantage at the end of the quarter. North Mahaska forced 11 turnovers and converted them for 16 points.

The Lady Dees adjusted in the second period and each team committed seven turnovers.

“We got to the basket early and got into our game in the first quarter,” said NM coach L.E. Moore. “They are a good ball team and they brought in (Hannah) Isley and made adjustments in the second quarter. We came out in the third and hit some baskets.”
