No. 4 Warhawks Roll Past Trojans

Tri-County knew facing the fourth-ranked team in the state to open the 2017-18 season was not really what they wanted.

North Mahaska had shown last season that they would be a team to contend for the league crown – and they played mostly freshmen. Now they are sophomores.

In fact the Warhawk roster includes 10 sophomores, three seniors and a junior. Tri-County’s roster includes six seniors, a junior and two sophomores.

This game belonged to the sophomores. North Mahaska’s tenacious defense and transition game set the Trojans on their heels and could not recover. North Mahaska took advantage of 11 first period turnovers to build a 20-0 lead and collected 24 points off miscues building a 40-1 at intermission en route to a 55-11 South Iowa Cedar League win.
