North Mahaska Boys Fall to Hawks, 61-36

North Mahaska’s Jace Williams (20) and Seth Edmundson battle Rylan James of Lynnville-Sully for a ball in the first half.

North Mahaska’s boy’s team played a much better game in terms of mechanics, but was no match for the athleticism of Lynnville-Sully. The Hawks came into NM and left with a 61-36 victory.

“I know there are not moral victories in a loss, but I thought we played much better tonight than at BGM,” said coach Seth Streebin. “No one likes to lose, but I think we grew some tonight and learned.”

Midway through the first quarter NM trailed by two points, but the Hawks went on an 11-5 run for an 18-10 lead at the break. They took advantage of North Mahaska miscues to score 12 points off eight turnovers in the first half for a 36-16 advantage. NM played stronger in the second half with LS outscoring them 25-20.
