Shaw, Wade Finish Top 10 at Hawk XC Meet

North Mahaska’s Cheyenne Shaw and Eddyville Blakesburg Fremont’s Madysen Wade both placed in the top 10 at the Lynnville-Sully Invitational Cross Country Meet Thursday to pace their respective teams. Shaw was third in a time of 22 minutes 9 seconds while Wade was 10thin 23.23.

Melcher-Dallas’s J’Lyn Knutson won the race in 20:50.7 followed by Montezuma’s Elise Boulton in 21:54.8.

North Mahaska had just two runners, Shaw and Emma Tyrrel, who placed 49thin 28:16.9, so did not compete for the team race. Pekin dominated the race winning the team title with 34 points. Collins-Maxwell was second with 55. EBF ran sixth with 119.

Following Wade were Kacie Flaig in 30thin 25:37.6; Shelby Akers in 34th26.14.9; Jenny Faybik in 45thin 17:18.9; Shanna Fellows in 47thin 27:42.5; and Allison Walker in 53rdin 30:18.9.

In the boys’ race, North Mahaska’s Isaac Knockel placed 11thwith a time of 19:58.2 followed by EBF’s Jackson Sheldon in 20:02.9. 

Pekin won the boy’s race as well scoring 39 points with Pella Christian in second with 48. EBF took third with 105 points and North Mahaska was eighth with 163.

For EBF, DJ Stout ran 27thin 21:21.9 and Elijah Hartman was 28thin 21:21.9. Jatlin Moore was 30thin 21:42.5 an Treston Sales ran 35thin 22:16.2.
