Spring Festival Committee Announce Events

NEW SHARON – Organizers of New Sharon’s Spring Festival Committee is excited to announce the activities and events for the annual Spring Festival June 4-9. The events will kick off on Tuesday, June 4 from 5:30-7 p.m. with Chalk the Walk in the Park. There will be stencils painted on sidewalks at the City Park where kids can use chalk, chalk paint, and other tools to make the sidewalk colorful for Spring Festival. There will be trolley rides, a splash pad and PROS will provide the meal. 

The Blackwood Quartet will provide gospel music at the Rock Center at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, this event is sponsored by the Ministerial Committee of New Sharon. A baking contest will be held again this year and participants are asked to drop off their baked goods to the McVay from 1-8 pm on Thursday as well.

The committee has added a lot of fun events to Friday night. Fun at the Football Field will kick off at 5:30 p.m. with a meal by the North Mahaska Senior Class and North Mahaska Pact. At 6 p.m., there will be a dance performance by New Sharon Dance and Tumbling Studio. The program will start at 6:30 p.m. with the announcement of the Citizen of the Year and Queen. Following the announcements, the Little Miss and Mister Contest will be held. Face painting and inflatables will also be available from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Returning again this year is the movie on the big screen at dusk with the showing of The Lion King.
