The Sun Editor in Close Shave

Oskaloose seventh grader Korbin Siroky shaves off the beard of The Sun Editor RD Keep as part of a No-Shave November event at the school.

Men across the country participated in No- Shave November bringing awareness to those with cancer. The Sun Editor RD Keep was asked to participate with the Oskaloosa Middle School. This past Friday a seventh grade student won the right to shave the beard.

“I’m not sure how much money was raised overall,” said Keep. “The students received tickets for bringing in food for the local food pantry or could donate a $1. I know social studies teacher Jason Maddy received the most votes.”

Korbin Siroky had his name drawn to earn the chance to shave Keep during Friday’s lunch period as students looked on. Siroky said he was afraid to cut too deep, but Keep assured him he likely would not be cut by his actions. It took about 15 minutes for Siroky to complete the job.
